About Pratap Sarnaik - Karya Samrath

A Leader Who Believes in Work

Pratap Sarnaik is young, energetic and very active Member of Legislative Assembly. One of the characteristics of his personality is his sharp memory. He represents Ovala-Majiwada (Vidhan Sabha constituency) in Maharashtra Assembly. He is also the Shiv Sena Sampark Pramukh (Co-Communication Leader) for Mira-Bhayander constituency. He has during last two years raised many important issues on the platform of Assembly. It was mainly due to the efforts made by him the workers of Raymonds' Mill in Thane got good deal from management. He has carried out tremendous developmental works in his constituency.

He started his active political career in 1997 with his election as Corporator in Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC). He went on to win TMC election twice. As a Corporator he completed many projects such as Eco-Garden, Mahila Bachat Gat Bhavan, Open Auditorium and Welfare Centre for Senior Citizens and carried out lot of developmental works including concretization of roads. In 2009 he won the Assembly election from Mira-Bhayander constituency with the margin of nearly 10,000 against all odds.

His father Shri Baburao Sarnaik had worked with noted Marathi playwright, script writer, film maker and journalist viz. Acharya Pralhad Keshav Atre alias P.K. Atre. Baburao Sarnaik lovingly called as Babuji is also a prolific writer in his own has written many books including his autobiography in Marathi titled 'Ha Kumbh Amrutacha'. Recently he has written a book on P.K. Atre titled 'To Ek Surya Hota' (He was a Sun). This book was published on 13th August 2011 on 113th Birth Anniversary of P.K. Atre.

During his childhood and youth Pratap Sarnaik had to face lot economic hardship. His family shifted from Shivaji Park in Dadar to Dombivali. But he overcame those days with a great zeal with active support from his family members, especially his mother Indirabai and wife Parisha Sarnaik. These two women proved to be a everlasting source of energy for him.

At present he is Chairman of Vihang Group of Companies a conglomeration of construction, hospitality and fast food business. He is not only a successful businessman but has inspired many youngsters for becoming entrepreneurs by organizing special programmes like 'Ya Tarunano Ya...Chala Life Ghadvu Ya'.

He has pledged to make his constituency one of the world class and most developed.
